Nowhere In, Somewhere Out
8:09 AM
Apparently I’m so far out in the middle of nowhere that I have no idea how to get back onto the trail. I’ve posted a few questions on Facebook, but that platform isn’t much use anymore either. I tried five times to get an Uber, but by now that’s completely hopeless.
I talked to other hikers, and they managed to arrange a ride, but the person hasn’t responded to my messages.
Later in the evening I finally get a message from someone who’s willing to take me. He also said that the trail where I got off earlier is open again, but I can’t find that anywhere on the government website. Since I don’t feel like taking that risk, I choose an alternative trail. It’s on the north side of Crater Lake. Officially you need a special permit for that, but honestly—let them go to hell; if there’s a check, I don’t speak English.
Anyway, at least I had a good breakfast.
