Two Passes, One Restaurant
5:56 AM
Waking up with the sunrise. A light breeze moves through the trees. I have to get up.

7:00 AM
Right away in the morning I cross a mountain pass, and within minutes I’m already walking in shorts to cool down.

7:14 AM
Well, what can I say? Just look for yourself.

There’s a resort along the route with a restaurant, and I want to go there to eat properly. The downside is that it’s a 45 km walk and I have to cross two mountain passes. I know I can do it, but time is tight. That’s why I thought I’d be smart and start using electrolytes right away, to retain fluids better and avoid drinking myself full of water that I then have to carry.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work out this time. I’m tired and need to rest often.

Made a new friend—or does he just need something from me? 🤔

Lol 🤣, I look at the photo and honestly don’t understand why I took it 🤔. Then it clicks: I wanted to photograph a stream because after 40 km I finally had water again. Sorry—it’s not visible.

6:19 PM
Well, hitchhiking to the resort isn’t happening; I’ll have to walk.

7:01 PM
Luckily the restaurant is still open, and I get to eat a proper meal by myself. I take a few rolls with me for breakfast.
I’m not allowed to stay here, so I have to walk to the other side of the lake. Apparently there are spots between the trees there.

7:57 PM
Pff, walking again—and fast too, because it’s already starting to get dark.
One problem: my backpack is broken. The shoulder strap and hip belt have torn. It’s too dark to see how I can fix it.
