Logistical Realities
Logistics, as it turns out, are part of the adventure. You’re not allowed to enter the U.S. from Canada at the northern terminus — doing so would make you technically illegal, with penalties ranging from a $10,000 fine to up to a year in prison, plus another $5,000 fine. At least they’re generous enough to give you options 🤣
So the plan becomes more elaborate. Fly into Seattle, take the train to Wenatchee, continue by bus to Winthrop, hitch a ride to Mazama, and from there on to Harts Pass.
Harts Pass already sits on the PCT, but it’s still about 30 miles — roughly 48 kilometres — away from the official northern terminus. Which means two days of hiking to reach the start point, and then two days walking back along the same trail.
All that effort, just because I really want to walk the Pacific Crest Trail 🤔
