Ultralight Gear
Gear matters — but never on its own.
Over the years, long-distance hiking slowly pulled me into the world of lightweight and functional gear. Not because I enjoy buying things, but because carrying everything on your back forces you to make choices. Every item earns its place, or it doesn’t come along.
On this site, gear isn’t about specifications or perfect lab conditions. It’s about use. About how things behave after weeks on trail, in rain, cold, heat, dust, and fatigue. What works when days are long, when comfort matters, and when simplicity becomes essential.
I test and use gear across different setups and trips: hammocks, quilts and underquilts, tents, batteries and power solutions, navigation tools, and cameras — including 360° cameras. Sometimes the conclusion is positive, sometimes less so. Both are equally useful.

Because gear is personal — and understanding it takes time on trail.
