Crossing into Spain

Slept well. A bit of a cramped room, but a bed is a bed.

We continue the route towards Irun, just across the border in Spain. The sea is distracting — you keep stopping to look at the next wide view.

We walk into Hendaye. A familiar place because this is where the GR10 starts, which we walked in 2014.

We’re in Spain and the yellow arrows are immediately clearly marked. “Buen Camino” echoes through the streets and I feel at home again.

Unfortunately the church is closed for a stamp. A note says the priest has passed away and the funeral will be later today.

It still turned into quite a tough day, but we’re warmly welcomed by the owners. We get a full tour and can even stay two days. We’ll think about it — first recharge a bit.

Haha, we have no food. The owner drove us to the old town, which was great of course. Only had to walk 3 km back 🤔 — uphill 🫣
