Cold Night, Long Day

6:06 AM

Friday the 30th, morning. Slept—mmm, it was so cold! At 1:30 AM I got out of my hammock to build a windbreak. The wind was blowing under the tarp and carrying all the warmth away. The spot I’d chosen was too exposed.

6:00 AM—the sun is shining straight onto the tarp and I’m basically baking in my hammock. I just want to sleep for a bit!

9:59 AM

It’s a beautiful day. The wind is dry. There’s a tough stage ahead, but I feel tired and exhausted. Those last 10 km to the hut feel endless—and then there are still 28 km to cross the pass!

Too lazy to take my pants off. The weather’s nice anyway! Result: soaked up to my knees, because those rivers are, after all, just a bit deeper than expected.
